Excel Money is small by design. Two directors, both with their hands on every case. No junior staff substituting for principals, no overseas call centres, no automated decisions.
Andy handles the advice and gets your application off to the right lender. Jayne handles the underwriting back-and-forth and chaperones every case to completion. Between them: over fifty years of combined mortgage industry experience, and a small mountain of "we got a yes" stories from people the high street had said no to.
In the mortgage industry since the day he left school, in 2001.
Andy runs the advice side of Excel Money. He's the voice on the phone when you first ring, the person who'll ask the awkward credit questions early, and the one who'll personally pick up the phone to a specialist underwriter when your case needs a human nudge rather than a portal submission.
His hobbies, however, are far from mortgages, and mostly revolve around football. Andy is the manager and chairman of his beloved Swinton Athletic FC. If you recognise his mugshot above, that's probably because you've seen him at one of the many Swinton pub quizzes (the only thing he loves more than saving you money on your mortgage).
Rest assured though: your mortgage will always come first. And with his business partner Jayne on hand to drive the case through underwriting and completion, you're with the safest possible company either way.
In finance by chance since 2009, and indispensable ever since.
Jayne's career in finance started by chance back in 2009, but she quickly found her niche supporting clients through the parts of a mortgage that everyone else finds boring: the on-going solicitor discussions, the underwriter queries, the insurance requirements, the "what does this form mean?" questions. She is the reason cases that should take months complete in weeks.
By day she is Excel Money's Director, Underwriter and Completions Specialist. But most importantly, she is a mum to two grown-up children and a Nannie, who she loves spending her free time with. Born and bred in South Yorkshire, she's definitely the person to see when looking for a property locally.
(If you can get past the fact she's a Liverpool FC supporter. We've tried. It's a work in progress.)
Most brokerages have one person doing everything badly, or twenty people doing one thing each so nobody knows your case. We split the work between two specialists, and we both stay on it from first call to keys.
Real outcomes for real people. The same two faces, every time.
Everything we do, every call, every case, every recommendation, comes back to these.
We know our stuff and get results. Decades of placing the cases the high street rejects has given us calm, evidence-backed expertise.
We're here to guide, not judge. There is no question too small, no situation too embarrassing. The first call is confidential, and without obligation.
No jargon, no double-talk, no fine-print surprises. Everything important goes in writing, in plain English, before you commit a penny.
We focus on solutions and progress. If we genuinely can't help, we'll tell you, and where possible, we'll point you somewhere that can.
FCA-regulated, fully insured, with a real office and a real telephone. Your goals are our priority. The money is a by-product of doing right by you.
Excel Money Limited is the trading style of The Mortgage Shop (Barnsley) Limited, an independent intermediary firm authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority (firm reference 450713). We have one office, in South Yorkshire, and we work across the local area by appointment, and the rest of the UK by phone.
A meaningful proportion of our new clients arrive on the recommendation of a previous client. That's the proof we point to: people who've been through the process, telling their friends to do the same.
When you instruct us, you instruct Andy or Jayne, directly. No middle-people, no handovers, no "I'll get someone to call you back."
No upfront cost. No credit footprint. No hard sell. Just a confidential chat with Andy or Jayne about what's actually possible.
